New trends in the ceramic sector and inspiration for the bathroom space: what will we see at Cersaie?

Interior Design  /  September 14, 2017

The historic encounter with Cersaie of Bologna, the exhibition dedicated to ceramics and bathroom furnishings in its 35th edition, returns from 25th to 29th September 2017.

Not just ceramics

The event confirms its importance especially for industry professionals who will find not just ceramics exhibited, but also components, innovative coating materials (such as wallpapers) and new technologies. Italian excellence is put at the service of the home of the future, designed to meet the demands of contemporary living from a green perspective: awareness is focused on energy saving and the use of natural or technologically developed materials that can provide efficiency, aesthetics and vision.

Culture and inspiration

Cersaie consolidates its nature as a place to get to know and increase awareness of new trends also through the various side events of the exhibition.

Building, dwelling, thinking is the usual cultural kermesse dedicated to the world of architecture and design: each year the program conferences host renowned architects and designers who present their projects and their vision of contemporary architecture and design.

Creativity breaks out of the exhibition spaces with the third edition of Bologna Design Week: from Tuesday 26 to Saturday 30 September, shows, design exhibitions, workshops, competitions, events, guided tours and themed design talks that cross over to the fashion, food and design sectors will enliven the historic center in the evening for five days devoted to the project’s cultures and to the cultural and creative industries. The packed schedule is also the occasion for many companies to open their Bologna showrooms, organizing cocktails and lectures devoted to customers.

What will we see at Cersaie?

In general, as regards ceramics, the trend is to give up half-measures in favor of distinctproposals and diametrically opposed moods: minimalism or decoration, large formats or mini-tiles, square lines or sinuous shapes.

In coverings, porcelain stoneware is now the undisputed star, thanks to digital printing that allows decorative solutions unthinkable until a few years ago: patterns are increasingly inspired by nature that will play a central role in reproducing striations in marble, stone, wood and the plant world. In small formats, the decorations of porcelain tiles reproduce traditional terracotta, concrete, and Venetian terrazzo, even in hexagonal formats: a trend that continues to draw success both among the public and insiders.

The bathroom strengthens its role as a space dedicated to wellness, increasingly integrated with other rooms in the house. The trend to break up the coordinated classics has crept in: colored sinks alongside strictly white toilets and bidets and free-standing bathtubs with sculptural lines, such as our Vov, which will be exhibited at Cersaie at the Gruppo Romani (white version) and Marazzi (black version) stands.

The Kon sink and Anahita bathtub will enrich the Isla exhibition spaces

The Ragno settings will be embellished by the Kellybook and Heidi bathtubs.

The For You bathtub, the newest offering from the Mastella Design house, will be featured at the Panaria stand.
